NGJones here, weathering what will be known as "The Blizzard of 2010,"

** these first few posts are post-dated and were written in the first few weeks of February. This one was February 5th, a Friday. I remember, because this was the last time I got to drive champagne before the blizzard of 2010. I didn't get her out of her snow cave until over 20 days later. **

Snowing, 3-6 inches are called for, but knowing MD; it will either be 1 in or 12 inches.

A professor of mine said during class a few times when snow was called for, "it's not the snow on the highway, but the flakes on the road." That stuck.

The best you can do in snow is stay wherever you are. I made it home as the first hour of snow coated the driveway. I stopped for the mail at the end of a 600 foot or so long driveway - starting from a stop meant losing traction - yup, stay the hell off the road.
Also, first gear has too much torque for snow; second is recommended.
